Report of IOA President

Mrs. Louise Lalande & Di Bracken visited Delhi, Banglore, & Mumbai in India. I accompanied them in all three cities. They met Surgeons & ostomates in all the three cities & exchanged ideas with them. Louise spoke on different subjects for ETs. They also had chance to visit local hospitals to see the available facilities.

On 27th February there was a grand launching of AtH projects in India. It was held in Mumbai. More then 100 ETs, Surgeons & dignitaries along with staff of Coloplast as well as Mr. per Nielsen, Sr. Project manager AtH , attended the launch. ETs & surgeons had come from different parts of India. On 28th February there was a meet between ETs of India & Louise Lalande to exchange Ideas on how to promote ISCNEP project in India. We also signed the contract between IOA & AtH for this project.

As  a President of IOA, I was invited to participate & attend the first ever joint conference of WCET & WOCN in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. It was a very big gathering of about 3500 health care professional from around 40 different countries of the world. Scientific program was of very high quality & was very well organized.

I spoke about IOA & its activities, projects & friends with whom they work closely, in international delegates meeting of WCET. I also introduced ISCNEP project of India amongst the meeting of directors/ co-ordinators of ETNEP/REP of WCET. It was well received since it is only second E Learning program on Stoma Care in the world.

Barry Maughan  & I visited Shanghai, Nanjing & Hangzhou in China as a part of the IOA-AtH China project. It was well supported by the staff of Coloplast China & Hongkong. In each city there was a meeting with ETs, Colorectal surgeons & few ostomates. Local surgeons & ETs gave their presentations on current situations of Ostomy care & Ostomy clubs. Barry spoke on how to use ISCAP material for creating local awareness about the needs of Ostomates & organize stoma clubs in various cities which can last long. I spoke on Visitors training guidelines & how to use it for educating ostomates & local nurses so that their interest in local stoma care activities can last longer.

Mr. Per Nielsen, Sr. Project manager of AtH visited Mumbai, Banglore & Delhi to evaluate the progress of the ISCNEP project in India. He met with local surgeons, ostomates & ETs for the same. He had a chance to address the press conference in Mumbai to high light this project in India & role of AtH in this project. This was well attended & was organized by Lions of Mumbai as their help is vital to bring in funds to India to do this project under FCRA regulations.

World business meeting of Member countries of IOA to be held in Frankfurt from 17th to 20th November 2010 to discuss the change in IOA structure & amend the constitution to adopt the change in IOA structure.

On 16th & 17th November 2010 , IOA EC meeting & meeting with task force members to discuss the changes in IOA prior to IOA world meeting.
