IOA Celebrates 40th year

40

We look back with humility and gratefulness for as the IOA recalls the founding congress on April 25, 1975 at Weesp, Netherlands when the conference formally ratified the articles of confederation, and the constitutions and by laws were adopted and signed by representatives of 11 associations from 10 countries.

The conference changed the name from World Work Committee to International Ostomy Association. Archie Vinitsky was elected Chairman and Christian Soop as General Secretary, and Alan Meyer as editor of IOA Bulletin.
