Our Work and Our Commitment

The Promotion of Ostomy Advocacy
is first and foremost of our commitment.

1. Planning and implementation of World Ostomy Day activities in line with the guidelines and theme of the organizing region. This is passed on to the member associations of the national federation.

2.  We conduct Visitor Training for persons with stoma guided by the
principle of “Ostomates helping Ostomates”.

Once an ostomate completes the one day training, they automatically
become pre counsellors and post counsellors for patients in need of
understanding and awareness in having a stoma. This is in partnership with enterestomal nurses and surgeons who will  share input and knowledge in ostomy care.

3. Production of our own ostomy literature that caters to news, events and tips for people coping with a stoma. We publish in a quarterly basis.

4. Conduct of Lay Fora for DoH Retained and LGU Hospitals with the intention to create an ostomy clinic for the treatment, follow ups and meeting places of ostomy patients.

5. Support of young ostomates as members of the 20-40 Focus Group.
