World Ostomy Day – ACDO (Colombia) 2015

ACDO (Colombia) conducted two training sessions in two provinces of Colombia.

The first meeting in Yumbo (Valle del Cauca) was spearheaded by a housewife with three children (two girls and a boy) diagnosed with multiple familial polyposis and colon cancer, and the eldest was 16-years-old years with ileostomy. Together with B. Braun Laboratory, the speaker Nurse Adriana Gonzales Traslaviña invited and two members of the Colombian Association of Ostomy Carlos Martinez and Luz Marina Jimenez shared their life stories. 40 people attended the event..

Right Sarah Gabriela, 16, who has Ilesotomía.This first conference organized by Norma Ramirez (mother of Family and caregiver) who attended the training conducted by the Colombian Association of Ostomy in the month of October 2014 in Bogota and their commitment was to initiate the formation of Ostomy Support Group of Yumbo and nearby.

Second Conference at Catholic University of Manizales (Caldas): ACADEMIC DAY CARE PERSON OSTOMATE DIGESTIVA

Nurses University of Manizales, fourth from left Paula Andrea Duque (organizer nurse), Nurse Sandra Guerrero, speaker was invited by ACDO, she isthe Coordinator of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota and member of the WECT, Colombian Association. In attendance too were Antonio Gomez and Clara Inés Alvarado who shared their life stories to the participants

Dressed as a clown was nurse Maria Ivette Orozco Manizales, who besides being a motivational teacher for student nurses is also in charge of the religious group home for the elderly. To this day there are 60 nursing students from different semesters. Convatec participated in a very interesting workshop for several ostomates who expressed the great need for an organized support group attended. The commitment in Manizales is shaping the Ostomy Support Group, with the help of nursing teachers, doctors and specialists from different health disciplines at the University of Caldas. This day was the beginning and commitment for this endeavor.


A.C.D.O. OCTOBER 3, 2015. CELEBRATION OF WORLD OSTOMY DAY

World Ostomy Day celebration began with recalling the history of ostomy which was followed by a presentation of videos. The In House Group company (Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano) held a conference on Risoterapia and with the participation B. Braun and Coloplast.

The celebration was attended by 55 ostomates and family, having a very heartfelt celebration. There were four awards for so many who deserve it for their unwavering support and contributions to our Association. Since the beginning of 2015, we have been working for the organizations concerned for the realization of the Second Regional Meeting 2016 OAA, which we are just learning more detail in the coming days.

This year our Association has been doing renovation work, our image and identity with the support of the program of Advertising “In House”, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, which was sponsored by Dr. Jose Alejandro Polanco Anthropology, author of an investigation called “the Person Discrete” on the daily lives of persons with an ostomy and their experiences through this condition, in the interest of the ostomy visible in different areas (government, community, groups of students, professionals etc.) Our changes have been designed to have an identity in keeping with the times and to impact different groups we head.
